Offices of ITHA President and Five Seats on the Board of Directors Up for Election

The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) has announced that several proposed rule changes to its Racetrack Safety Program have been approved by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and will go into effect on Monday, July 8.

ITHA leadership will offer updates on additional purse money resulting from ITHA advocacy and other matters of interest to thoroughbred owners and trainers.

The ITHA's diligence and advocacy at the Illinois Capitol has paid dividends for Illinois owners and trainers: state lawmakers agreed, before completing their spring legislative session on Wednesday, to transfer surplus dollars in the state's Horse Racing Fund to Hawthorne purses.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, July 12.

This year, we remain cautiously optimistic that the legislature will agree with our position that excess dollars in the Horse Racing Fund are best spent supporting the men and women who continue to work in the service of Illinois thoroughbred horse racing.
