The ITHA is saddened to announce the death of Jockey Agent Tom Morgan

Tom Morgan, a widely respected jockey agent who spent decades shaping the landscape of Illinois horse racing, died on June 29, 2025. Born in Michigan, Morgan’s enduring love for the sport led him to Chicago, where he became a mainstay at the city’s historic racetracks, including Arlington Park and Hawthorne. Over the years, Morgan guided the careers of numerous jockeys, both seasoned professionals and rising stars, and his influence was felt throughout the Midwest racing community.

Morgan’s sharp instincts and steadfast work ethic earned him the trust of jockeys, trainers, and owners. He was known for representing a range of talented riders, helping them secure mounts and navigate the demanding world of thoroughbred racing.

ITHA President Chris Block said, “Tom was a longtime, very successful agent on the Chicagoland racing circuit who launched and oversaw the careers of many jockeys. He was extremely dedicated to Chicago horsemen, racing, and will be extremely missed by all.”

Known for his warmth, humor, and professionalism, Morgan fostered a sense of community among Chicago’s racing fraternity.

He is survived by his family, friends, and the many jockeys whose lives and careers he helped shape. Tom Morgan’s legacy will endure in the memories of those who knew him and in the vibrant history of Illinois racing.
