The ITHA is saddened to announce the death of Director Fedro

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and esteemed board director, Tom Fedro, who passed late Sunday night.

Tom, a cherished family man, respected veteran, and passionate horseman, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, in Arlington Heights, IL, at the age of 81. Born on September 13, 1943, in Chicago, IL, Tom’s life was marked by dedication, service, and a zest for adventure.

Tom served his country as a member of the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. His commitment to excellence continued as he became a prominent figure in the equine industry, serving as director of the Illinois Thoroughbred Association. His love for thoroughbred horse racing was paralleled only by his enjoyment of golf, skiing, and traveling the world.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and perseverance to his sons, Thomas (Nadia) Fedro Jr., and Scott Fedro; his grandchildren Jordan, Sophia, and Eugene; and his sister Joyce.

Thomas reunites in eternity with his beloved wife Linda, his parents and his siblings Bob, Jim and sister Pat. His memory will be treasured and his presence deeply missed.

Please keep Tom and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
